Rearranged

Here is Jack's room after we got it all rearranged with his bed (BEFORE he starts playing in it and pulling everything out!). I love his cute little bed. It just makes me laugh to think of him being so old and sleeping in it. Now we want to refinish all of the furniture, but I'm not looking forward to doing it. You always think these "little projects" are going to be no big deal and it always ends up taking twice as long as you anticipated. Oh well, hopefully it will look cute when it's all done!

Big Boy Bed!

About a week ago, Justin and I decided to take down Jack's crib and put him in his toddler bed. I was a little nervous at first, but Jack was so excited and kept talking about his big boy bed. The first night took us about an hour or so to get him to bed, and the next night a little less. I was pretty happy until the third night when he just would not stay in his bed for anything. I kept thinking, "Why did we do this?!" After taking him back to his bed about 50 million times (it sure felt like that many!) we finally just shut the door. He can't open his door yet so he had no way of coming out of his room. He stood at the door banging on it and cried for a couple minutes and then climbed back up on his bed and went to sleep...go figure. We should have done it that way from the beginning! So now we just say goodnight and close the door. Sometimes he still comes to the door just to check if we accidentally left it open, hoping that he can get out. But as soon as he realizes that it is shut he crawls back up and goes to sleep.

We laid his crib bumper across the floor in case he fell off, which has only happened once.

He is such a good boy. He even still takes his 3 hour nap every day. I usually open his door after he is asleep so he can come out when he wakes up. I love to see him come and find me and hear him so excited and proudly say "Big boy bed!" We have since rearranged his room so it looks better with his bed. I will have to post pictures later. We eventually want to refinish all of his furniture but we aren't sure when or how we want to do it.

I definitely have mixed feeling about my little baby getting so big and turning into a big boy. I hate it actually. It's fun to have him play with you and talk to you, but I feel like it has gone by way too fast!! He's not a baby at all anymore and it makes me sad. I guess that is just part of life. Maybe it is Heavenly Father's way of convincing you to have another one...even if I'm not completely convinced. :) He sure is a cute "big boy" though!

Fire Scare

The other night, we were upstairs rearranging Jack's room since we had put his bed up and taken down his crib. All of a sudden we hear the fire alarm go off. So we run down stairs to see why and our whole bottom floor was a little smokey and totally smelled like fire. We were running around trying to see what was burning and we couldn't find anything but we realized the smell was coming up through the vents. Our maintenance guy had been working on our furnace that day so we start getting really nervous. I run down to the basement to see if I could find where the fire was but found nothing. Still nervous, I call 911 and they send the fire department over just to check it out and be safe. We live right down the street from the fire department so they showed up in about five minutes with lights, sirens, and everything! And at first they went the wrong way down our street. eventually they found us and I'm sure all the neighbors were wondering what the heck was going on. We were babysitting Lily that night and both of them were glued to the window saying "Wow! Cool!"

By the time they found our house and came in to check everything the smell had gone down a ton and they weren't able to find anything. They think that some debris fell onto the flames in the furnace and burnt up, sending the smoke and smell up through the vents. It was enough to give us a good scare though! I felt bad that they came out to our house for nothing, but I guess it's better than if they came to our house and had to hose down all my belongings!!!

Enjoying the Snow...Kind of

Last Saturday we decided to bundle up and take Jack sledding at a park close to our house. It seemed like everyone else in our neighborhood had the same idea. We had now idea there would be so many people there! You had to time everything just right so you wouldn't run anyone over as you were going down the hill.
Justin and I had a ton of fun, but Jack preferred to watch all the other people go down the hill, instead of going down himself. He was all smiles until we had him sit on our lap to start heading down the hill. It was kind of a big hill and there were so many people there, maybe it just scared him a little. It was still fun though. I think I will take him again on a week day when everyone is in school and see if he likes it any more.

Justin has a long weekend and I wanted to go sledding again but it has been WAY too cold! Thursday night it was -15 degrees and I think it warmed up to about zero during the day on Friday. Right now my computer says 10 degrees, but it is currently windy and snowing. We have been under a wind chill warning all day. This morning they said the wind chill was about 20 below. I don't think we will be going out to play this week!!

Jumping Beans

This kept Jack busy the whole time at Stephanie and Adam's house. He has no fear!!

New Year's!!

After Washington, we headed to Idaho and then down to Utah to be with Justin's family for New Year's. We haven't seen Justin's siblings since LAST Christmas!! That is WAY too long! Little Connor was only two months old when we saw him last. Now he is bigger than Jack!

All of the kiddos eating together. All of Stephanie's kids make very good babysitters!! They entertained Jack and Connor ALL DAY. Thanks guys!

Little Connor. Him and Jack both joined the throw up club together and they both broke through some molars!! It was a rough vacation for these two. He was still so cute with his cheesy little grin!

We were able to spend some time with Justin's good friend Rich. He was so good with Jack. This is one person Justin wishes he lived closer to!

Matching boys. :)

The girls...

The silly boys...

Stephanie, Ryan, Stephanie, Adam, Justin, Stacey

We had so much fun being able to spend time with both of our families!! We wish that we could be closer, even though we love it out here in Ohio. Like I said with my family, now it is your turn to come and see us!! It better not be a year again before we see everyone again!!

It was a nice long break, but we are glad to be back in our own home, with a normal schedule and not be living out of suitcases. We stayed as long as possible though. Our flight didn't come in until midnight, the night before Justin had to be back to classes. We had a little rough start when we first got back to Ohio, which is the reason I am posting this so late. But despite all that went wrong, we finally think we are back in the swing of things and over all of our sickness!! Now we are looking forward to Denise coming in a week and a half!!

Thank you Stephanie and Adam for letting us crash your house!

Christmas in Enumclaw

We were able to spend our Christmas with my family in Washington. Jack and I went a week early while Justin finished studying and took his National Board Exam, part one, which he did really well on! Congrats Justin!! Another extremely stressful part of dental school behind him...woo hoo!
Jack adjusted quickly to being at my parent's house. He loved all the new toys, and would not go to sleep without this gigantic Winnie the Pooh. He learned everyone's names really quickly and still asks for EVERYONE individually, including all of Justin's family. He definitely misses everyone! It just isn't as fun to be at home with just his mom...cousins are way better!

During our break, we played a lot of Wii, which is always fun! It's even more fun to make fun of whoever is playing it at the time! The Hula Hoop game was my favorite.

We got to hang out with the Berglind's!! Their little Hayden is to die for! It was fun to see him and Jack play together. It is still weird that we are married and have kids. It seems like we should still be rooming together at BYU-I!

All of the cutie pie boys...

Scottie being a weirdy.

My mom started a new tradition on Christmas Eve with a themed stocking. This year, the theme was my dad. He recently had his quadruple bypass surgery and so the stockings were filled with things to keep our bodies healthy.

And if you know my dad, he is the Cabella's King and in honor of him, we all received disgusting camouflage pajama's! We could not stop laughing after we put these on! I really don't think Camo is a good look for me. :) Good thing we love you dad! I must admit though, they were pretty comfortable!

Jack, snugging up to Uncle Willie. It was a little more difficult to get Jack to warm up to anyone at Christmas. He was sick for about 4 or 5 days, threw up multiple times, wouldn't eat for three days, and broke through two new molars! Needless to say, he was NOT a happy camper on Christmas morning. Hopefully next year will be different.

Tanner, Riley, me and Whitney

My long, lost cousin Kasey! I haven't seen her in years!! It was fun to see you Kasey!

I am so happy that we were able to go! I miss my family a lot!! Now, it is your turn to come and see me you guys! And the sooner the better!!

P.S. We had a white Christmas! It snowed almost the entire time I was there. The last white Christmas that I remember was in 1990! I loved it.

Bowling

We had a sibling's night out when I was in Washington, before Justin got there. It was a lot of fun. We were being really silly, taking tons of pictures and laughing extremely hard the entire time! :)

The "Head Hunter"!!
I thought this was going to be the winning ball for sure! Kelli proved me wrong :(

Me, Kelli, and Scott (or Pokey, as Jack would call him).

Mckay got to come with us on a school night! He was practically bowling with his eyes closed by the end of the second game. I think he was a little tired.

Beautiful form Scott :)
