Funny Jack

"Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for this day. Thank you for all of our blessings.
(in a quiet whisper) Hi Anderson...
Thank you for Mom and Dad and Jack and Anderson.
Thank you for Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
Thank you for Mom and Dad and Jack and Anderson.
(in another quiet whisper) Hi Anderson...
Thank you for we could have a good day.
Thank you for the food.
Amen."

Justin: "Jack, how has your day been?"
Jack: "I'm not Ben!! You're Ben! I'm Jack!"

Pittsburgh....AKA the Pitts!

A couple weekends ago we went to Pittsburgh with the Mortensen's to play at a hotel for the night and hit up IKEA the next morning. I was REALLY looking forward to going to IKEA to get a couple things for my bedroom. The weather said it was supposed to snow 2-4" so we decided to go anyways.
These two cuties watched movies and had fun jumping on the beds.

Jack was in heaven. He LOVES to jump on anything!

Eli and Anderson just being cute :)

We had so much fun playing games, laughing and eating yummy food. But after we got there it started to snow pretty hard. And it just kept snowing, and snowing, and snowing! We watched it snow all night and all morning. They ended up getting 20+ inches in Pittsburgh and said it was the 4th worst snow storm in Pittsburgh history.

This is the view from our hotel window...

The boys had to shovel our cars out the next morning but we were hopeful and made our way to IKEA. We thought it would be good to spend some time there and wait for the roads to get cleared. Well....we drove to IKEA and this is what we found...
A totally empty parking lot full of snow. They were closed because of the weather!! What?! If we made it, surely the employees could have made it there. Do they know that we drove 2 hours and paid for a hotel just so we could shop at their store?!? I was so upset!! I was really looking forward to it and did not want to make the drive back. After we found out it was closed we decided to just find somewhere to eat lunch and head back to Cleveland. We drove around...there was NO WHERE to eat. They were all CLOSED!! Everywhere! It was a ghost town. So, we headed back home and got stuck behind 4 snow plows blocking the whole freeway driving 15 miles and hour. Wow...this was turning out to be a great trip! Thanks for the invite Mortensen's! Ha Ha....no we really did have fun even though we didn't get to go to IKEA. The best part of the whole trip was this little trick that Scott taught Justin...

Betcha can't do this!

B-Day/V-Day

This past weekend we celebrated my 26th birthday along with Valentine's Day. We started the celebrating on Saturday. I went out to breakfast with some friends, and had a blast sitting and chatting about babies, our hubbies almost being in their 4th yr of dental school, Cleveland winters, and not wanting to make new friends after we all move away. Then I came home to find Justin mopping the kitchen floor and cleaning other areas of the house that were in need. I have a good husband. Then I left Justin home with the boys again so I could head to the gym. Then later, Justin and Jack left to run some errands and came back with a beautiful bouquet of roses and P.F. Chang's takeout. Did I mention that I have a good husband?? This is one of our favorite restaurants and it's nice to eat it at home and not worry about taking our kids out. Then Spencer and Suzy showed up to put our boys down while we went and saw the Blind Side at the theater. Such a good movie!!! We had so much fun going out and tried to think of the last time we actually went on a date... alone. With no friends, no kiddos, just us. We still can't think of the last time. Needless to say it was long over due and we really enjoyed ourselves.
My actual birthday was on Sunday and was filled with meetings, church and a baptism although I did make Justin a yummy breakfast that he didn't really get to eat because my alarm didn't go off and he had to run to his first meeting. It's nice that we were able to celebrate the day before. We talked to my family on speaker phone and my dad gave Justin a hard time about not having a birthday cake. So for family night tonight, Jack and Justin were busy baking away and came up with this yummy strawberry cake, complete with sprinkles. They totally redeemed themselves :) It was super yummy! Plus my birthday dragged on for 3 days in a row. I think we should do it that way every year.

Jack made us relight the candles about 25 times so he could blow them out again.
Love the action shot :)

I think after the next couple birthdays I am just going to stop having them. I really, really don't want to turn 30. I still feel like I'm 18 and according to the woman at the grocery store, I still look like it. She asked Justin and I if Jack was our little brother. This was when I was like 9 months pregnant with Anderson. I kindly responded and pointed to my huge pregnant belly, "No, that would be our son and I have one more on the way!" She looked a little surprised. Oh well, I guess when I really do start getting older that looking young will be a good thing... right?

Thanks for a great birthday!!
I've had a couple requests to put a picture of my birthday present. I have been wanting new bedding for a long time and I found this on clearance at Target. I had been eying it for a while but we had decided it was too much and didn't quite fit into the budget. But luckily my birthday came around and it went on clearance just in time. Love it!!!

No worries...

Dear Pediatrician,

You don't have to worry anymore. My mom is now giving me sufficient tummy time and plenty of toys to play with. She really is a good mom. :)

Love,
Anderson

4 Months

It is hard to believe that 4 months have passed since little guy made his debut. He has been such a great baby and the adjustment from 1 kid to 2 has been a lot less stressful than I was anticipating. :)
I took these pictures yesterday and he was all smiles, as usual! You can really see how thin his hair is in these....SAD!

He is very content and hangs out in his little bouncer chair a lot of the time. He had his 4 month check up yesterday and I was laughing to myself because she asked me if he can roll over from his tummy to his back. I thought to myself, I don't know! I haven't put him on his tummy to find out! Not wanting to look like a horrible mother I replied, "He's pretty close." Haha. Then she asks me if I handed him a little rattle or toy, can he hang on to it. Second thought goes through my head...I don't know. I've never handed him a toy to find out! Wow...I am on a roll for mother of the year. He is so content to just hang out that I go about my day as usual and help Jack with different things, feed him and then put him back down to sleep. Of course I didn't tell the doctor this, becuase I didn't want to look retarded. And as soon as we got home, I handed him a little toy and he held on to it, played with it and put it in his mouth. Phew...relief. At least I know he can do one of those things. Then I put him on his tummy and he did not like it at all. He didn't roll over, but I'm sure he's probably close, just like I told the doctor. :)

Weight: 13 lbs. 6 oz. - 25%
Height: 24.5 inches - 25%

I think we have finally established a good nightly routine with him and he is sleeping so much better now! Big relief. There were some nights that he was waking up every 45 minutes. Physically, I could not handle it. I was exhausted. I didn't know what to do. Finally one night, I had to go somewhere so I went to pump a bottle and leave him with Justin to put down for the night. I came back out of my room with only 1 ounce...total. Well, I figured out pretty quickly that he just wasn't getting enough to eat. So we started feeding him formula right before he goes to bed and in the middle of the night. He now goes to bed around 6:30pm and sleeps for at least 12 hours with one feeding in between. Last night he fell asleep at 7pm, woke up at 5:45am to eat and it is 8:55am and he is still sleeping. Now that I could get used to. :)

It is fun to see his cute little personality starting to come through. Jack continues to love him and always tells us "Mom/Dad, he's a cute brother, huh?"

Okay Mom, photo shoot's over!
